Day 1: classroom

  • Introduction to first aid
  • Emergency scene management
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Primary and secondary survey
  • CPR and choking protocols for adults
  • Clinical shock
  • Heart attacks
  • Epilepsy and seizures
  • Bleeding and wounds
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Burn wounds
  • Hypothermia and hyperthermia
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Other emergencies: diabetes, sepsis, poisoning, nose bleeds, asthma, sprains, strains and strokes

Day 2: assessment

  • Summative and written assessments
  • Bandaging and bleeding practical assessment
  • CPR and recovery position
